This lens was specially developed for demanding photography with 35 mm SLR cameras. It impresses with a bright, clear image in the viewfinder and also guarantees brilliant image quality with a wide aperture. It is an ideal tool for portraits both in the studio and outside. The low depth of field at wide aperture enables you to visually isolate a scene through the targeted use of background blur. The special optical design and nine-blade diaphragm and virtually circular geometry deliver an outstanding bokeh. The Planar T* 1,4/85 ZA is almost distortion-free and is perfect for both analog and digital documentation photos. Floating elements ensure stable performance even up close. The fast auto focus also makes this lens perfectly suited to fast-moving animal and sports photography.

Features

High-Speed Lens

Impressive photographs captured in low light always begin with a fast lens for a system or SLR camera. Because, a fast, high-performance lens captures as much light as possible. And a lens with a large maximum aperture leads to the best results when shooting in unfavourable light.

Full frame compatible

The ZEISS ZA lenses are suitable for digital Sony Alpha cameras and have been optimized for film and sensors up to full 35 mm format (24 x 36 mm).

Ideal aperture with nine blades

Photographers want to guide the observer through the image. Minimal depth of focus is often used as a design element. This keeps the background intentionally blurred to keep the attention of the observer on the main subject. These different representations of the blurred areas, as well as the quality of the transition, are referred to as the Bokeh of a lens. The finely tuned features of the optical design on ZEISS SLR lenses ensure a particularly harmonious effect of the blurred areas of the image. The nine diaphragm blades and the resulting, virtually circular aperture on ZEISS SLR lenses are crucial to favorable rendition of highlights in the fore and background.

ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating

All lens elements in SLR lenses from ZEISS feature the T*® anti-reflective coating and an optical design that produces brilliant pictures even in unfavorable lighting conditions. We vacuum deposit very thin, transparent coats on the surfaces of the lens elements to make them anti-reflective. Special substances, one by one, are vaporized with very high energy in a high vacuum, which are then deposited on the glass surface as a coating with precisely controlled thicknesses to achieve the desired reduction of reflections. The first coatings were applied by ZEISS back in the 1930s.
