How we repair your lens

Welcome to the Carl Zeiss Service Repair. Please choose your country for further information:

  • Send your lens in the original box (if available) and well packaged directly to our facility in Thornwood, New York. If necessary we will forward the lens to our service center in Germany on your behalf:

    Include our repair cover letter as well as a copy of your sales receipt. We are only able to process inquiries accompanied by a completed repair cover letter. Include a day-time shipping address where you can sign for a FedEx Express shipment.

  • After an incoming inspection of your lens by our service engineers, you will receive a cost estimate of the repair for approval.
    For the cost estimate, you will be charged $35 plus shipping costs and VAT. If you place an order for the repair, the cost estimate will be free of charge.

  • After receiving our cost estimate, you decide whether you wish to have your lens repaired and indicate approval by providing your billing information.

  • After repair, we would appreciate your feedback on our service.

  • Please send your lens well packaged directly to us in Oberkochen, along with our repair cover letter. We are only able to process inquiries accompanied by a completed repair cover letter.

  • After receiving our cost estimate, you decide whether you wish to have your lens repaired.

  • After repair, we would appreciate your feedback on our service.

The function test comprises the following criteria:

  • Mechanical function (aperture ring, focusing mechanism, shutter)
  • Diaphragm setting and function
  • Image quality
  • Flange focal distance
  • Flash and insulation test
  • Basic mechanical settings
  • Optical cleanliness
